Volunteer Information
(For ALL Potential Volunteer Drivers and Volunteer Coaches)

Step 1
Contact Salish Secondary
(Speak with the Athletic Director)

Please contact your school's Athletic Director to express your interest in volunteering and learn about potential opportunities to coach or help drive student athletes.

Step 2
Volunteer Application Forms
(Driving & Coaching)

Volunteer Driver - for volunteers who help transport students to athletics activities / school events
Community Coach - for volunteer coaches participating in school athletic programs

Once you complete the applicant sections of the form, please return to your school. School staff will then complete the verification and approval sections (forms are also available from your school's athletic director).

Approved volunteer forms remain valid until the beginning of the next school year. Currently, a new application form must be submitted each school year.

Step 3
Obtain a Criminal Record Check
(CRC)

The Criminal Records Review Act (CRRA) requires school boards in British Columbia to ensure that employees and volunteers who work with children under the age of 19 complete a Criminal Record Check through the Criminal Records Review Program (CRRP)
To complete a Criminal Record Check
  1. Submit a completed CRC Request Form to initiate your Criminal Record Check using the hyperlink or the QR code to the right
  2. Complete an online Criminal Record Check - You will receive an email from the PSSG Security Programs Division, which includes instructions to complete your check. Please complete this step as soon as possible. The link will expire in 14 days and your application cannot proceed until it is completed.
  3. Verify your identity using the BC Services Card App (Preferred method) - Instructions for setting up the App are available here: BC Services Card Setup Guide
    1. Receive confirmation of your Criminal Record Check clearance.
      1. If you cannot use the BC Services Card, you still complete the CRC application online, however, you will receive an email from the school district asking you to visit the Human Resources counter at the District Education Centre to verify your ID in person.
      2. Once your Criminal Record Check has been processed, a confirmation email will be sent to both you and your school site.
      3. If you are unable to use the BC Services App or attend the District Education Centre to verify your identity, please contact [email protected].

Returning Volunteers:

Criminal Record Checks are valid for five years, unless a volunteer is charged with or convicted of a new offence. If this occurs, the volunteer must report the charge or conviction to their school or the district so that a new Criminal Record Check may be initiated, in accordance with section 24.9 of the Criminal Records Review Act.

Volunteers will be contacted when a new Criminal Record Check is required.

Step 4
Final Approval
(Athletic Director will contact you)

Once all required documentation, including your application form, has been reviewed, your school / Athletic Director will contact you regarding the start of your volunteering duties.
